Buy Tickets HereDirect from its premiere at the Provincetown CabaretFest, Michael Garin and Mardie Millit take you to the “underbelly of the 1930s and ’40s,” from the back rooms and honkytonks where the piano is loud and the lyrics are naughty, to the lonely desolation of the Dust Bowl, where hobos sing about a magical land of plenty, to the hilarity and chaos of a nightclub in the wee hours when the martinis — and the wit — are dry. Add to this Michael & Mardie’s signature musical virtuosity and goofy charm, and you have a delightful evening of music, laughs, and surprising pathos.
Multi-award-winning husband and wife piano/vocal duo Michael Garin and Mardie Millit have brought their unique blend of musical virtuosity and goofy charm to audiences in Manhattan and around the country for the last two decades, delivering a wildly eclectic repertoire. Mardie received the 2024 MAC Award for Best Female Vocalist for their show SORRY-GRATEFUL: One Sondheim Story in Letters and Song, and they won the Duo/Group MAC Award in 2022 for their residency at the West Bank Café in Manhattan.
Michael is a Drama Desk Award-winning composer/lyricist/performer (for Song of Singapore) who has made a living entertaining New Yorkers, playing piano and singing in swanky watering holes since the 1980s. Mardie has a degree in opera and spent many years doing classic musicals in regional theatres around the country. They have been performing together since 2005 — most notably their late Sunday nights at Elaine’s, from 2008 until its closing in 2011.
Currently, Michael is in his tenth year as the house pianist at the Roxy Hotel in Tribeca, where he plays his renowned musical mashups every Tuesday through Saturday. He is featured on A$AP Rocky’s new album, Don’t Be Dumb. Mardie is a founding member of Dream Productions Theatre Company in Hell’s Kitchen, performing in staged readings of Sondheim musicals with full orchestra since 2017. Michael & Mardie’s Middle Eastern pop band, The Habibi Kings (habibikings.com), is dedicated to spreading world peace through the classic party music of the Mediterranean. They are also collaborating on a musical adaptation of Mary Astor’s Purple Diary by Ed Sorel, which has just been presented at New Jersey Repertory Company. You can hear songs from the musical at maryastormusical.com and read more about them at michaelandmardie.com.
