She has been singled out as a unique and authentic interpreter of music from the Weimar Era. Her shows “Ghosts of Weimar Past,” “Phantoms of the Cabaret,” “Wasted Girl,” and her newest one “It’s All a Swindle,” have been performed in some of NYC’s most iconic venues: 54 Below, Birdland Jazz, The Triad Theatre, The Laurie Beechman Theatre, Don’t Tell Mama, as well as the Adelaide and Rochester Fringe Festivals, all acclaimed to rave reviews with nominations for Best Show by the Broadway World Cabaret Awards. “Wasted Girl” was selected by Broadway World in 2024 as a top cabaret show alongside Patti LuPone, Bernadette Peters and Marilyn Maye. The show also established her as an important composer and songwriter of her generation, comparing her skills to the masters of The Great American Songbook.
Renée Guerrero, pianist, grew up in Austin, Texas, where her father introduced her to music at an early age. Early on, Renée’s musical influences were profound with exposure to many styles of music: mariachi, jazz, classical, and popular. Her uncle Louie Guerrero composed the famous 1960’s hit “Peanuts,” recorded by Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass. Both her grandfather and uncle have been honored for their contributions to Tejano music and were the first father and son inducted into the Austin Music Memorial. Her early piano studies were with Kathryn Mishell and Dr. Timothy Woolsey. After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Piano Performance from Texas State University, Renée then attended the Manhattan School of Music where she received both a Master’s Degree and a Professional Studies’ Certificate in Piano. She has appeared in venues throughout New York City including Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, Lincoln Center’s Merkin Hall, and Faust Harrison Pianos, as well as venues throughout Italy. In 2014, she and her husband esteemed baritone Larry Harris won Best Record of the Year awarded by the Native American Music Awards. To celebrate the 100-year anniversary of George Gershwin’s 1924 Rhapsody in Blue, she created the show Rhapsody in Love which continues to get rave reviews.
